Cardiff Ice Rink is around a 10-minute drive south of Cardiff city centre. The rink was previously known as Ice Arena Wales but was renamed Vindico Arena in 2023. It is one of the UK’s newest arenas (built-in 2016) and can be found at the Cardiff International Sports Village.
Vindico Arena is home to several ice hockey teams, including the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League. It is just one of 41 ice rinks in the UK that are home to competitive ice hockey teams.

Cardiff Ice Rink Parking
Cardiff Ice Rink parking is free at the Vindico Arena car park and can be accessed from Empire Way (note that if you search for the car park on Google, you should enter “Ice Arena Wales Car Park”).
The arena car park normally fills up quickly (and it occasionally floods!), in which case you can find free parking at the International Pool overflow car park, also accessible via Empire Way.
If both these car parks are full, head for the former Toys-R-Us car park; this normally opens 90 minutes before face-off on game nights. Access to this car park is from Olympian Drive.
The Toy-R-Us Car Park is just a 2-minute walk from the entrance to the rink and has around 300 spaces, but there is a parking fee of £5.00.
Also, note that the Wilcox House Park and Ride site is now permanently closed.
Cardiff Devils Ice Hockey Team
The Cardiff Devils is an ice hockey team playing in the UK’s Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).
The EIHL is the highest-level professional league in the UK, with 10 teams from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The season runs from September to March/April, and the teams will play two (sometimes three) games a week, one home and one away. The most common days for games are Saturday and Sunday, but the team will play some on Fridays or mid-week.
These games include those played in the league and for the Challenge Cup. Most of the cup games are played early in the season.

Cardiff Fire Ice Hockey Team
Cardiff Fire is an ice hockey team playing in the UK’s NIHL 2 South (Wilkinson) division. The team is based at Ice Arena Wales.
The amateur NIHL 2 league is the fourth-highest in the UK, behind the EIHL, NIHL National and NIHL 1 leagues. Thirteen teams compete in the southern division (see below), and nine teams compete in the northern division.
NIHL 2 South (Wilkinson) Teams
The teams charge for entry to games, generally £5-£10 for a non-concessionary adult and reduced rates for children and OAPs.
NIHL 2 South teams compete for the regular season title, the playoff title, and the Wilkinson Cup. The regular season runs from September to late March, and the season concludes in early April with a playoff weekend for the semi-final and final games.
How Cold Is Cardiff Ice Rink?
If you haven’t been to a hockey game before, you need to know that ice rinks are cold places (not a surprise!). And the closer you are to the ice, the colder you will be. Also, hockey rinks in the UK aren’t heated, so temperatures in the arena drop in line with outside temperatures.

Cardiff Ice Rink Seating & Away Fan Blocks
Cardiff Devils’ tickets give you assigned seating, and the away fans are seated in blocks 16 or 17. There are three categories of seating: gold, silver and bronze, which are priced slightly differently. However, it is a well-designed new arena, and you will have a good view wherever you sit.
